📸 Club Photo Competition 2026:

Let's have some fun and get into some diving this Summer with a friendly photo competition. It's easy to participate and enter and open to our current club members only.

This is a free of charge photo competition for our club members on their local dives. We've created 2 categories to make it more fun:
1) Underwater. 
From fishy friends to dive buddies, you can submit anything that you've taken whilst under the waves.
2) Above the Water.
Anything dive related above the waves - from kit set-up to a scenic dive site location.

You can enter 2 photos, per diver, per category.

You gotta be in it to win it!

1st Prize - A full SSI Photo & Video Course.
Win 1st prize in either category and win the full online learning, plus your practical session, any kit hire and your certification.

2nd Prize - SSI Photo & Video online learning.
Win 2nd prize in either category and win the online learning (inc the certification fee) to complete before your practical session. Charges applicable for open water practical's and kit hire.

3rd Prize - £25 DDS voucher to go towards any recreational SSI course within the next 12 months.

Official Rules

General Eligibility & Entries

  • Exclusivity: Open to current club members only. Professional photographers are not eligible to enter.

  • Cost & Limits: Free to enter. Maximum of 2 images per person, per category.

  • Deadlines: Entries close on 24th August 2026. Winners will be announced and contacted on 31st August 2026.

The Categories

  • Underwater: Focus on marine life, but awesome selfies and buddy shots underwater are welcome, as welcome as scenic on location shots!

  • On Top of the Waves: Dive-related moments above water (on the boat, shore prep, kitting up, buddy selfies).

Photo Criteria & Guidelines

  • Location & Date: Photos must have been taken in Dorset during 2026. We will also accept photo taken at Vobster Quay.

  • Ownership & Consent: You must be the owner of the image and have explicit permission from anyone appearing in the photo.

  • Editing & AI: AI-generated, AI-altered, or heavily edited images will not be accepted. Minor colour correction and basic cropping are perfectly fine.

Judging Process

  • Shortlist: The team at the Dorset Diving Services (DDS) shop will select 5 shortlisted images from each category.

  • Final Voting: The entire DDS team will vote on the shortlist to choose the winners.

  • Winners: Only 1 winning image per category. Please note, we cannot provide individual judge's feedback for every photo entered.

Prizes & Conditions

  • 1st Prize: Full SSI Underwater Photography Course (Includes free online learning, free tuition, free kit hire, and free certification).

  • 2nd Prize: SSI Underwater Photography Course online learning & certification (Additional charges apply for tuition and kit hire).

  • 3rd Prize: A £25 DDS voucher valid for any recreational SSI course of your choice.

  • Course Fine Print:

    • Students must have their own camera setup for the course. 

    • Online learning cannot be exchanged for alternatives.

    • Entry fees for open water tuition days apply (Vobster: standard entry | Boat dive: £65 charge | Shore dive: £35 charge).

  • Prize Terms: Prizes have no monetary value, cannot be exchanged for cash, and are non-transferable. Prizes must be claimed by 31st August 2027, or they will be forfeited.

Copyright & Media Usage

  • By entering, you grant the club permission to use your images for social media, marketing, leaflets, and other media.

  • Your image will always include a copyright acknowledgement. No monetary reward will be given for the use of your imagery.

Submit your photos via email to info@dorsetdiving.co.uk with the following format:

  • Email Subject Line: Club Photo Comp 2026

Required Details in the Email (or we may not include it in the running):

  • Image Name

  • Image Location

  • Image Description: Tell us what animal/wreck it is, who is in the picture, etc.

  • Why do you like this photo?

  • Your full name and highest dive certification.

Just for Fun (Optional):

  • How long have you been diving?

  • Why do you love diving?

  • What is your favorite dive destination and specific dive site?
