Bit rusty? Get back in the water with total confidence. The SSI Scuba Skills Update is the perfect refresher for certified divers who have been out of the water for a while.

Based at the Dolphin Leisure Centre in Poole, we start in the main pool to review equipment assembly, dive planning, and core safety skills. Once you're comfortable, we move into the specialized 3.8m deep diving pit—providing the perfect environment to fine-tune your buoyancy and practice equalisation.

Whether you are preparing for a big holiday or just want to feel sharp for the local season, our instructors move at your pace to ensure you feel safe and capable. We provide all the scuba equipment (including masks and fins), so you only need to bring your swimwear and towel.

Refresh your skills, update your digital dive card, and get back to doing what you love.

Common Questions

Do I need to be a strong swimmer?
No athlete status required! You just need to be comfortable in the water. You'll need to show you can swim 200m (any style, no time limit) and float for 10 minutes. If you're at all nervous, come for a 'Try Scuba' session first!
What if I have trouble equalising my ears?
This is our #1 question. We teach you multiple techniques to "pop" your ears comfortably from day one. We go very slowly, we never rush, and we make sure you're comfortable every inch of the way.
How long does it take to get certified?
It’s flexible, but typically involves: Digital learning at home, one or two Friday night pool sessions in Poole, and two days of open water diving (4 dives total). We work around your schedule.
Are there any medical restrictions?
Most people can dive! You’ll fill out a standard form. If you have history of asthma or heart/lung conditions, you might just need a quick doctor’s sign-off. Message us and we’ll send you the form to check.
Do I have to buy all my own equipment?
No. We provide all the specialized kit (Regulators, BCD, Cylinders, Wetsuits) for the whole course. Most divers eventually want their own mask and fins, but we've got you covered for your training.
Is it dangerous?
Scuba is incredibly safe when taught correctly. You're always with a pro. And sharks? In the UK, we only see shy Dogfish and Catsharks—they are small, harmless, and a total highlight to spot!
