SSI Advanced Open Water Course
The SSI Advanced Open Water Diver course takes your diving to the next level. You'll complete 5 specialty dives — including mandatory Deep and Navigation dives — plus 3 electives of your choice, extending your certified depth to 30 metres and building the skills and confidence to tackle a wider range of dive sites.

- SSI Open Water Diver certification (or equivalent from another agency)
▸ Minimum Age & Who It's For
- Minimum age: 12 years old
- Certified Open Water Divers ready to expand their skills, depth range, and dive site options

- 🏫 Classroom/theory: Online via MySSI
- 🌊 Open water dives: Vobster Quay, Frome

- SSI digital learning materials via the SSI app
- 5 open water training dives: Deep & Navigation (mandatory) + 3 electives of your choice
- SSI Advanced Open Water Diver digital certification
✗ What's Not Included
- Equipment hire — students are encouraged to use their own kit; hire available at extra cost
- Vobster Quay entry fee (£26 per day)
- Mask, snorkel and boots (must be purchased from Dorset Diving Services)
- Transport to/from venues
ⓘ Good to Know
- Maximum depth: 30m (age 15+) / 21m for the Deep dive (age 12–14)
- Popular electives include Night Diving, Wreck, Perfect Buoyancy, Dry Suit, and Sidemount — speak to us about what suits you
- If choosing DPV, Dry Suit, or Sidemount as an elective, an additional pool session is required at an additional cost of £45
- A medical self-declaration form is required before in-water training begins
