SSI Dry Suit Diving Course

Stay warm, comfortable, and extend your diving season all year round with the SSI Dry Suit Diving course. Learn to dive confidently in cooler waters while maintaining comfort and control. This course is available in two options to suit your needs:

• Option 1 — eLearning & Certification Credit Only: Complete your academic training online and earn your certification credit. You can then arrange the in-water sessions separately with an SSI Dive Centre.
• Option 2 — Full Course (including eLearning & Certification Credit): Includes both the online theory and the required in-water sessions with Dorset Diving.

What you’ll learn

• The advantages of drysuit diving and how drysuits work
• Different drysuit types, materials, seals, and valves
• Thermal protection and undergarments for various environments
• Buoyancy control and trim using a drysuit
• Safe entry, inflation/deflation, and ascent management
• Maintenance, storage, and troubleshooting

In-water training (included in the Full Course)

Your practical training takes place under the guidance of an SSI Instructor. You’ll apply what you’ve learned online in both confined and open water dives:

• Pool or confined water session to familiarise yourself with drysuit operation
• Two open water dives demonstrating buoyancy, safety, and control
• Managing ascents, descents, and inverted positions
• Emergency drills for stuck inflators and suit floods

Important

• You must hold an Open Water Diver certification (or equivalent) to enrol in this course.
• If booking the eLearning & Certification Credit Only option, you’ll need to arrange in-water training separately with an SSI Dive Centre.
• Confirm that your chosen dive centre can provide a suitable drysuit for your size if you don’t have one.
