SSI Enriched Air Nitrox Course

Enriched Air Nitrox (EANx) allows you to extend your bottom time, reduce surface intervals, and feel less fatigued after diving — making it one of the most popular and practical specialties available. The SSI Enriched Air Nitrox course teaches you the theory behind breathing enriched oxygen mixtures, how to analyse your gas, and how to plan dives safely using nitrox up to 40% oxygen.

▸ Prerequisites

  • Minimum age: 10 years old
  • Referral Diver (any entry-level scuba certification) — you can start and complete the course as a Referral Diver
  • Certified Open Water Diver required to receive your final EAN certification card

▸ Who It's For

  • Any certified or student diver who wants to extend bottom times and dive more efficiently — also a mandatory prerequisite for SSI professional programmes
  • Student divers can start and complete the course before finishing their Open Water Diver certification

  • 🏫 Practical EAN40 application: Dorset Diving Services, Poole (required to certify)

  • Maximum depth when diving nitrox: 30m (age 15+) / 18m (age 12–14) / 12m (age 10–11)
  • SSI Enriched Air Nitrox 40 is a mandatory prerequisite for SSI Assistant Instructor and Open Water Instructor programmes
  • Counts as an SSI Specialty towards higher rating programmes
