This course gives you a deeper understanding of how your scuba equipment works and how to maintain it for top performance and longevity. It provides your academic training and certification credit only, allowing you to complete the theory online before joining optional hands-on workshops with an SSI Dive Centre.

What you’ll learn online

• The design and function of key scuba components
• How regulators, BCDs, cylinders, and dive computers operate
• Routine care and maintenance to extend equipment life
• How to perform pre-dive checks and basic troubleshooting
• Proper storage and transport of scuba gear
• How to choose the right equipment for your diving style
• Understanding servicing schedules and manufacturer requirements

Optional practical training (booked separately)

To complement your eLearning, you can attend hands-on equipment workshops with an SSI Instructor or Service Technician. These practical sessions typically include:

• Regulator and BCD inspection, cleaning, and hose management
• Demonstrations of servicing procedures (non-invasive)
• Computer settings, battery checks, and firmware updates
• O-ring replacement, leak checks, and equipment assembly
• Personal equipment fitting and configuration advice

These practical workshops are not included with this eLearning product and must be arranged separately with Dorset Diving or another SSI Dive Centre offering the Equipment Techniques programme.
