SSI Perfect Buoyancy — eLearning & Certification Credit Only

Take control of your diving and move through the water effortlessly with the SSI Perfect Buoyancy specialty. This course helps you master trim, balance, and breathing techniques so you can dive longer, move smoother, and protect the underwater environment. It includes your academic training and certification credit only — complete the theory online, then add the optional in-water sessions to fine-tune your buoyancy skills.

• Breathing control and body positioning for stability and trim
• Equipment configuration to improve balance and streamlining
• Weight distribution, weighting checks, and fine-tuning for efficiency

Optional practical training (booked separately)

To put your buoyancy theory into action, you can complete in-water training sessions with an SSI Instructor. These sessions will help you develop precision and confidence in your underwater control and may include:

• Pool or confined water buoyancy drills and trim exercises
• Hovering in multiple positions (horizontal, vertical, and neutral)
• Breathing and finning practice for controlled movement
• Fine-tuning weighting and streamlining for comfort and safety
• Environmental awareness — diving without disturbing the seabed or coral

The practical training is not included in this eLearning product and must be arranged separately with Dorset Diving or another SSI Dive Centre offering the Perfect Buoyancy specialty.

Important

• Please confirm that your chosen dive centre offers SSI Perfect Buoyancy training before booking the in-water sessions.
• You must hold an Open Water Diver certification (or equivalent) to participate in the practical dives.
• This course is strongly recommended before advancing to specialties like Wreck Diving, Underwater Photography, or Deep Diving.
