The Apeks MTX-RC Single Cylinder Long Hose Set packages Apeks’ extreme-cold-water regulator system into a standard hogarthian / primary-donate configuration designed specifically for a single cylinder.

Instead of the standard recreational setup (short primary hose + octopus on a short yellow hose), this package equips a single-tank diver with the hose routing and safety protocols typically used in technical and overhead environment diving.

What’s Included in the Set

  1. Apeks MTX-RC First Stage (DIN or Yoke)

    • Over-balanced diaphragm with an environmental dry seal and forged heat-exchanging ribs.

    • Rotating turret featuring 5 Medium-Pressure (MP) ports and 2 angled High-Pressure (HP) ports, allowing clean routing down the cylinder sides.

  2. Primary Second Stage (on a 2.1 m / 7 ft Long Hose)

    • Full MTX-RC second stage featuring external cracking effort control and venturi lever.

    • Fitted to a 2.1-metre flexible braided hose routed down the cylinder, tucked under a waist harness or canister light, and looped around the diver’s neck.

    • This is the regulator the diver breathes from during the entire dive, ready to be donated instantly to an out-of-air buddy in an emergency.

  3. Backup Second Stage (on a Short Hose with Bungee Necklace)

    • Identical MTX-RC performance second stage.

    • Mounted on a shorter (typically 55–65 cm) hose and suspended directly beneath the diver’s chin via a silicone bungee necklace.

    • If donating the long hose primary to a buddy, the diver simply tilts their head down and switches directly to this backup regulator.

  4. Submersible Pressure Gauge (SPG)

    • Apeks brass-and-glass SPG mounted on a standard high-pressure hose (typically ~60 cm), fitted with a marine-grade stainless-steel bolt snap to clip off to the left hip D-ring.

Key Advantages of This Configuration

  • Easy Out-of-Air Airsharing: In an emergency, donating a 7-foot hose provides ample distance between divers. This allows safe, single-file swimming through restrictions, swim-throughs, kelp channels, or high-current areas without pulling on each other's mouthpieces.

  • Streamlined Profile: Hoses route tightly against the body, eliminating looping "wings" that snag on wrecks or catch water resistance.

  • Guaranteed Working Backup: Because you donate the regulator you are actively breathing from, you know with 100% certainty that the buddy is receiving a functioning, unblocked air source.

  • Cold-Water Reliability: Built specifically to eliminate freeze-flows during winter shore diving, inland quarries, and northern UK sea conditions.

Who It Is Aimed At

  • Single-Tank Technical & Intro-to-Tech Divers: Divers looking to master standard primary-donate procedures before transitioning into twinsets or sidemount.

  • Wreck & Kelp Divers: UK and cold-water divers who want a streamlined profile with no dangling octopus to snag.

  • Experienced Recreational Divers: Divers seeking the added safety margin and comfort of an extended hose for emergency air-sharing on open-water dives.
