SSI Full Face Mask Diving — eLearning & Certification Credit Only

Discover a new level of comfort, communication, and warmth underwater with the SSI Full Face Mask Diving specialty. This eLearning course provides your academic training and certification credit, covering how to safely and effectively dive using a full face mask system. Complete the online theory at your own pace, then choose where to complete your in-water training.

What you’ll learn online

• The advantages and considerations of full face mask diving
• Full face mask design, features, and maintenance
• Proper fitting, sealing, and pre-dive checks
• Air sharing, clearing, and emergency removal techniques
• Communication systems (surface and diver-to-diver)
• Dealing with potential issues such as leaks or fogging
• Best practices for cleaning, storage, and post-dive care

Optional practical training (booked separately)

To complete your certification, you’ll need to take part in in-water training sessions with an SSI Instructor. These sessions typically include:

• Fitting and adjusting a full face mask for a proper seal
• Practising clearing, removal, and replacement underwater
• Using backup air sources and managing out-of-air emergencies
• Underwater communication drills and buddy coordination
• Executing a full dive using a full face mask system safely and comfortably

Practical sessions are not included in this eLearning product and must be booked separately with Dorset Diving or any SSI Dive Centre that offers the Full Face Mask specialty.

Important

• Please confirm before booking that your chosen dive centre offers the SSI Full Face Mask programme and has the equipment and instructors qualified to deliver the training.
• You’ll usually need to be at least an Open Water Diver (or equivalent) before starting the practical sessions.
• A completed diving medical questionnaire or recent medical clearance may be required depending on the dive centre’s policy.
