SSI Sea Survival — eLearning & Certification Credit Only
Build the knowledge and confidence to handle real-world diving emergencies at sea. The SSI Sea Survival programme delivers the theory online, covering planning, preparation, equipment, signalling and surface procedures so you can complete the academic training and certification credit at your own pace.
What you’ll learn online
- Safe dive planning and pre-dive preparation for sea conditions
- Boat diving essentials: briefings, navigation & safety equipment
- Using surface marker buoys (SMBs) and other signalling methods
- Managing low-visibility conditions and currents
- Out-of-air procedures and surfacing protocols
- How to call for help and manage surface emergencies
Optional practical training (booked separately)
To put your learning into practice, you can add the in-water component with an SSI Professional. Centres commonly include two open-water training dives focused on:
- SMB deployment and surface signalling under supervision
- Sea-state entry/exit techniques and boat procedures
- Emergency drills, tow/assist skills and team coordination
Practical sessions are not included with this eLearning product and must be booked separately with Dorset Diving or any other SSI Dive Centre.
Important
- Please check that the dive centre you intend to use offers the SSI Sea Survival programme and can deliver the practical training before you commit.
- Prerequisites for practical dives vary by centre and conditions; some may require an entry-level certification (e.g. Open Water Diver) and a medical questionnaire.

Start your SSI course online. This product provides access to the official SSI digital learning materials and certification processing once all training requirements are met. Practical training is not included and must be arranged and paid for separately with Dorset Diving Services (Poole) or any SSI Dive Centre.

- Book your required in-water training with Dorset Diving Services or another SSI Dive Centre.
- Once your theory and practical training are complete, your SSI certification will be issued.

This product covers eLearning and certification processing only. Pool and open-water training sessions, instructor time, dive site fees, and equipment hire (if needed) must be arranged and paid for separately with your chosen SSI Dive Centre.
Before purchasing, please check that the SSI Dive Centre you plan to train with is approved to deliver this specific programme, as not all centres offer every SSI course.
